Zander

2004 SP gelding

Initial Assessment

Zander has been barefoot for about a year.  At this, his first trim by me, he was quite imbalanced and had considerable chipping.  Both front feet turn in at the fetlock, but his prior trimmer had failed to adequately accommodate this; the lateral wall is flared and the plane of the bottom of the foot is wry.  We will gradually balance to the sole plane.

Recommendations

Mineral balancing to mitigate high iron and subsequent relative deficiencies of copper, zinc and manganese will help Zander grow a more resilient hoof wall.
