Ruby

Teenage Arab Mare

Initial Assessment

Ruby has nice wide heels, but stubborn chronic thrush.  She also shows white line separation. Toe cracks are always ready to appear.  We're working on growing out those flared toes on her front feet.  Her hinds were moderately imbalanced, which would explain some trouble she has balancing when asked for a hind foot...pain up through the hip/back may be responsible.

Trim Notes

06-20-08

One White Lightening soak, and Ruby's frogs are much improved.  I was much more aggressive with her toes this trim, in an effort to grow down a tigher white line connection, but we may need to address Ruby's diet to really change that.  Ruby has become so good for her trims I am now able to be much more thorough than I could initially!

07-14-08

The chlorine dioxide soaks have made a huge difference in Ruby's feet.  Frogs are much healthier.

Diligent trim schedule has allowed the stubborn toe crack on her right front to grow out completely.

White line separation remains. Addressing diet, eliminating pasture access and sweet feed like oatmo has been advised.
