Riser

2003 Tennessee Walking Horse gelding

Initial Assessment

Riser is one of my personal herd.  Riser was shod only once, for about 2 weeks before we purchased him.  He did not receive the most punctual or learned barefoot trimming before that; the upside was, he had beautiful sole and concavity; the downside, LOTS of flaring, and what we refer to as a "platter" foot as a result.  His feet responded beautifully to his new barefoot regimen, and now, a year later, he has some pretty doggone nice hooves!  He wants more heel on his left front, and I still have to be diligent to prevent flaring.
