Mahdi

1998 Warmblood gelding

Initial Assessment

Mahdi's toes are waaaay out in front of him, and there appears to be considerable flaring rasped off of the dorsal wall, particularly on the right front.  Heels somewhat contracted, and frog health will benefit from thrush treatment.  I did a very conservative set-up trim and fitted him for boots on his front feet.  Hind feet are predictably healthier, although the left hind heel is underrun; the bullnosed toe suggests that there is negative rotation of P3.

Recommendations

We started Mahdi on the So Cal Custom Blend in February.  He has worn his boots and pads through much of his transition, but is now becoming comfortable enough for arena work barefoot.
