 Sweet Candy Rose

Rocky Mountain Horse Mare

One of the very best RMH mares in the country, Candy suffered a laminitis attack after a course of prednisolone therapy prescribed to treat breathing difficulties. The respiratory problems were later attributed to the hollow-backed frame typically encouraged to produce gait.

The laminitis event clearly owed as much to the farrier's knife as the steroid therapy. Candy's left front shows 15 degrees of rotation.

In the second set of trim images, I should point out that the vet took the liberty of removing Candy's bars and sole material at the back of the foot just prior this trim.
