Calico

2001Paint mare

Initial Assessment

Calico's MRIs show she has a lesion to the deep digital flexor tendon in her right front; she has mild fluid accumulation in the medullary cavity of the navicular bone of BOTH front feet. Her right front is clubby.

Trim Notes

01-18-2008
4 week photos. Calico has shed most of the flaky, chalky sole, and her collateral groove height is looking excellent at the frog apex on all four feet. Collateral groove height at the back of both front feet is 1". Bars on both fronts have straightened noticeably already. Except for some tenderness on hard/rocky terrain after the rains a couple of weeks ago, she is comfortable and moving beautifully, decidedly heel first!

Calico is going beautifully...she even goes out on trail now without her boots!

09-16-08
I've started giving Calico a small heel bevel and toe rocker on her right front club foot to encourage her to use that heel better, and to lengthen the stride on that leg slightly.  At 4 weeks, the bevel and rocker are maintaining beautifully.

12-27-09

Calico has really beautiful feet these days. She is 100% comfortable on all terrain!
