CD
12 yr old Paint gelding
Initial Assessment
A little heel contraction; a little shallow under P3; but overall, not
too bad! CD's thin walls will quickly become healthier.
His front heels, particularly the left, are just on the verge of being
underrun. A look at the growth rings shows how leaving the
quarters long to set a shoe puts excessive force on the quarters,
creating a wave in the growth rings and pushing the hairline up.
CD's hind feet show much better sole depth, although they may be just
on the verge of negative coffin bone rotation. CD was fitted for
front boots.
He looks pretty bored and unconcerned in the photo at right, but he
was definitely wondering what all the fuss and photos were about!

Trim Notes
01-14-09
CD continues to make excellent progress. The hairline at his
quarters has finally relaxed. I'd still like to see more solar
concavity. His frog health is good. His heels are standing
up nicely!
03-10-09
Check out the nice, even growth rings on both front feet! No
more dramatic "fever" rings indicative of laminar inflammation.
Wall quality is beautiful!
08-12-09
CD moved our of a 12X24 and into a nice pasture last month. Think it doesn't make that much of a difference? Then have a look at CD's August trim! His frogs have improved dramatically; his solar concavity looks healthier and polished by lots of movement; even his wall quality is better!
12-27-09
CD's wall quality continues to improve. He is no longer producing such dramatic growth rings. He is sound and comfortable!
