Baron

23 yr old QH gelding

Initial Assessment

Baron's feet will take some time to heal, with his thin, shelly wall, rotting sole and frog, and a prior diagnosis of navicular changes. As soon as his shoes were pulled, he was reluctant to weight his right front heel.

Recommendations

Aggressive hygiene: chlorine dioxide soaks twice weekly until frog and white line health improve. Diet assessment.

Trim Notes

07-02-08

Baron shed out a lot of very poor quality sole on that right front immediately. I did a conservative setup trim, and fitted Baron with boots and pads.

07-31-08

Well, they're not much to write home about yet, but compared to a month ago, Baron's feet are looking good! Wall quality has already improved. Baron shed quite a bit of sole, and his frogs already look better, after just one chlorine dioxide treatment.

09-03-08

BIG improvement! Hoof wall quality looks great; sole is healthy and building depth; frogs are MUCH healthier! Go, Baron!!!
